Call for Candidates

The Nebraska Beef Council will hold Board of Director Elections in four districts in 2018. This opportunity is open to Nebraska beef producers that are at least 21 years of age, a resident and registered voter of a county in the district that he or she will represent, have been actively engaged as a producer in Nebraska for at least the previous five years and is in compliance with all checkoff  laws for the 12 months prior to the call for candidates.

Election Timeline

April 2, 2018: Board formally calls for elections in districts 2,4, 6 & 8

April 2, 2018: Candidate packets available for distribution 

June 15, 2018: Candidate packets due to third party:

August 1, 2018: Notify voters in districts with contested elections

Aug. 1 - Oct. 1, 2018: Precertification period completed by KSO CPAs + Advisors (must be postmarked by October 1, 2018) 

Nov. 15 - 30, 2018: Voting period Ballots will be mailed to qualified voters (must be postmarked by November 30, 2018)

December 2018: Third Party Contractor counts and delivers certificate of election

December 2018: NBC Board of Directors canvass the results of the election(s) and votes to approve the election(s). New directors are announced.

January 2, 2019: New Director term begins
