Corn Bread Mexican Casserole

Ingredients:
Beef Mixture
1 lb. ground beef
1/3 c. chopped onion
1/3 c. chopped pepper
1 (16 oz) can kidney beans
1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce
1 Tbsp. sugar
2 tsp. chili powder
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
Corn Meal Mixture
2 c. shredded American cheese
1/2 c. corn meal
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
2/3 c. milk
1 egg
2 Tbsp. softened butter
Cooking:
Brown ground beef, onion & pepper in cast iron skillet; drain
Add remaining beef mixture ingredients.
In mixing bowl, combine corn bread ingredients reserving 1 cup cheese
Pour corn meal mixture over beef mixture in skillet; top with remaining cup of cheese
Bake 25 minutes at 425 degrees
