5/21/2010   Nutrition Experts Come to Kansas City to Explore the Power of Protein

Kearney, NE (May 21, 2010)  Fifty key dietitians from Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri, New York, Minnesota, Utah, Kentucky and Pennsylvania, will gather in Kansas City May, 26th to 28th, to participate in a seminar designed to explore the nutritional benefits of beef and other protein-rich foods. The event, A Nutrition Adventure: Explore the Power of Protein, is being coordinated by State Beef Councils of Kansas, Nebraska and Missouri.

During this three-day seminar, scientific, culinary and consumer research experts will lead dietitians through an exploration of the “power of protein” and ways they can employ various cooking methods to bring out the best in beef. As an added side trip, the dietitians will indulge their senses with a springtime visit through the Flint Hills of Kansas to the Tailgate Ranch
(a working ranch in Kansas) and also will hear firsthand from a diverse panel of beef producers.

“We are excited to be hosting this event for our registered dietitians,” said Kaiti Roeder, RD, LMNT, director of nutrition and education for the Nebraska Beef Council and one of the coordinators of the event. “This is an excellent opportunity for these health professionals to embrace the science of nutrition and food with noted national experts in the field.”

The State Beef Councils designed the Nutrition Adventure program to educate key nutrition influencers throughout the country about food and nutrition trends. By helping dietitians gain additional knowledge about beef, the State Beef Council hopes to promote the importance of protein-rich foods in maintaining a healthy and balanced diet among consumers.
